My Review

Another great episode, but man, I can’t believe they also have Jennifer’s power manifesting itself now. Jefferson is going to be very busy training his daughters and who knows how Lynn will react to her entire family (except herself) being superheroes. I’m sure Gambi (once he’s let in back to the fold) will already have something sketched out for Jennifer’s suit because, let’s be real, he probably suspects that Jennifer was going to be next now that Anissa has revealed her powers.

I kinda feel like the show should have waited a couple of episodes before they revealed Jennifer’s powers because I wanted Anissa to be the focus of the power storyline for now. Oh well, I’m sure my feelings regarding this will be moot next week when we see them training all together and how fun that will be.

How awesome were the training scenes with Anissa and Jefferson? They have excellent daughter/father chemistry (as does he with Jennifer) and I loved that for all the knowledge and training that he has imparted so far, he was the one who learned the biggest lesson: that he shouldn’t change who Anissa is because that’s what essentially saved him from being blown up by that massive blast. Jefferson being all hyped up on endorphins while rambling on about what happened was adorable.

Yikes, Gambi. Him revealing to Jefferson that him leaking the truth about what ASA was doing was what got Jefferson’s father murdered was tough to find out. This one’s going to really hurt Jefferson because all this time Gambi has become a trusted family member to him and a surrogate father, and for Gambi to keep this from him all these years…damn. No wonder Gambi was so torn up and wasn’t acting like himself throughout the episode.

I wonder, though, why he said that he can no longer protect Jefferson and his family. Does Gambi not have a say in anything and he’s just a lowly agent? Because that’s not what I got from his conversations with Lady Eve. It seemed like he was one of the higher ups, but apparently not.

Pretty messed up what the ASA did at Freeland all those years ago. They used the town as an experiment and used the people as guinea pigs? Jeez. That is just insane and unbelievable to think about. But then again, who am I to say this while living in 2018 and the realities and the horrors going on right now? Who’s to say this isn’t happening in some town right now and we just don’t know about it?

What in the hell is going on with Lala? I started laughing when he began to make out with LaWanda’s ghost. His storyline is a bit on the weird side, but I’m sure it’ll all tie back to Lady Eve and Tobias somehow.

Lastly, this exchange between Anissa and Jefferson got the biggest laugh from me:

“Dad, you know how I feel about the woods. No. Black people die in the woods.”
“Yes, in horror movies, but only after the monster kills the white nerd.”

So true!
