“I’m not from here, am I?”

TV Show: Fringe
Episode Title: The Man From The Other Side
Original Air Date: April 22, 2010
Episode Number: 2×18

Episode Description

When two teenagers on a date turn up “dead” at an abandoned warehouse with the three puncture wounds to the soft palate β€” a trademark of the shape-shifters β€” the Fringe team investigates the evidence as well as the motives of mastermind Newton. Upon discovering a shape-shifting embryo, Walter returns to the lab to conduct further analysis, and Olivia and Peter head to Massive Dynamic for answers. Meanwhile, Peter reveals a family secret to Olivia as Walter struggles to recall what Newton knows about “building a door.”

My Review

And there we have it. Peter figures out he’s from the alternate universe and this is basically Walter’s worst nightmare. Just when the father/son relationship was at its best with Peter even calling Walter “Dad”, we get Peter telling Walter that “I am not your son” in the same episode. Yep, totally heartbreaking. Walter’s face when Olivia told him that Peter is gone…omg. My heart was already broken and whatever else was left was stomped into pieces.

I’m shocked that the person successfully crossed over to our universe (again, this is something that I have forgotten, lol) and I’m looking forward to everyone’s reactions when they find out who this person is. 😁

Pretty cool how Newton and his team figured out how to open a portal and have the two universes in sync just so that person can cross over. Also very cool how part of that bridge materialized when we saw the alternate universe during that short time span.

Olivia shooting that shape-shifter cop in the head without any hesitation was SO GOOD. “A cop wouldn’t call his sergeant on his cellphone.” God, I am just so in awe of Olivia, the FBI agent. So fucking competent and the very definition of a complete and total badass. Other characters can only wish they were half as awesome as Agent Dunham. I loved that when Olivia shoots someone, she always aims for their head because that’s the kill shot. Smart and efficient!

Peter revealing that Elizabeth committed suicide…wow. Totally understandable because she probably felt so much guilt for being directly involved with not taking Peter back and taking him from his true family. With Peter gone and with Walter in the asylum, she had no one else and nothing to live for. The guilt was probably too much and she couldn’t take it anymore. So sad.

I can’t wait for the next set of episodes because it’s just awesome upon awesome from here on out.

Lastly, I love how cheeky these writers are. I noticed that Olivia’s license plate this time around was 1R2D21 instead of 1C3P01. πŸ˜‚
