Peter, Walter, Olivia, and Broyles pursue a strange and deadly occurrence in Philadelphia where a bomb blew up inside a train station but left no trace of any explosive device. The perplexing and unexplained set of circumstances returns Walter to the lab to closely examine the human remains where he uncovers an unlikely energy source that triggered the explosion. With the explosive threat of more bombs and links to a classified military project, the intense investigation leads Olivia and Peter to Iraq.
The case of the week reminded me of the ambered bus in season one just without the bomb part. I’m not exactly sure why the colonel was ordering his soldiers to kill innocent people. The last scene with him and Broyles seemed contradictory to him being a terrorist. If he only wanted the briefcase that the courier had, there are simpler ways to get steal that briefcase without killing a bunch of people. If he’s really concerned about the Observers planning to exterminate us, then why is he helping them get a head start by killing all those people in Philadelphia?
That plot hole aside, I liked this episode thanks to the character interactions. Peter and Olivia going to Iraq was another good scene where we learned a little bit more about Peter and his time over there. I liked the two of them sharing a drink while waiting for Ahmed’s information about the doctor. Always love it when these two are sharing stories over a drink.
I liked Walter and Astrid’s conversation about change and how that could lead to discovering new things that could be good for one’s well-being. I’m sure the last scene of Walter showing Peter an apartment that they could lease was prompted by his conversation with Astrid. Loved Astrid’s smile after this scene.
Olivia getting fed up with Sam’s antics cracked me up. Of course she wants to see results right away. She really isn’t into waiting, is she? Loved the ending where she points a gun at Sam’s head to tell him to stop wasting her time and they both look back at the cane which she didn’t need to get up and walk over to where Sam was standing. Fuck yeah!
The teamwork to take down the colonel was terrific and I was on the edge of my seat (even though I have already watched this episode before, lol) throughout this scene. Broyles, Peter, Walter, Olivia, and the rest of the FBI team did great work finding the colonel and stopping him from blowing up the soldier. And oh yeah, they also saved that woman’s life and the lives of the people in that station.
One other thing I liked was Broyles telling Peter and Olivia to “look after each other” for their trip to Iraq. I liked this because of “future episode reasons.” That’s all i’m saying. 🙂
Lastly, I laughed out loud at Gene mooing as if offended by Peter eating a cheeseburger right in front of him. 😄
