“Hairless Chewbacca is coming”

TV Show: Orange Is The New Black
Episode Title: Tied to the Train Tracks
Original Air Date: June 9, 2017
Episode Number: 5×08

Episode Description

While Taystee sits down with a negotiator, Red and Blanca put their own plan into action. Gloria counsels Daya and asks Caputo for a favor.

My Review

Oh man, poor Daya. What Gloria told her to take responsibility for her actions and to not blame her mother or the inmates for what happened because she was the one who pulled the trigger finally made her realize that all of Aleida’s advice growing up have been bad and made her into who she is as a person today. But never again. She called Pornstache’s mother and told her that the baby is alive and that she should raise her and she offered herself up to the authorities in order for the inmates’ demands to be met. Finally, she is taking responsibility for her actions. Still sucks that she’s going to end up at max for this.

Poor Gloria, too. You could see the conflict on her face when Piper and the rest of them were looking for Daya. And on top of that, her son is in the ICU and is in a coma. I really hope Jack Pearson (Is he the governor? I had to laugh when the other line said “This is Jack Pearson’s office” because it’s the same name as Milo Ventimiglia’s character on This Is Us, lol.) can help her get furloughed.

I don’t care about Doggett being bullied, but those white inmates are heinous. Whatever happens, they all deserve it. Such pettiness.

I really liked the negotiation scene with Taystee and Figueroa (welcome back) and how Taystee was fully prepared to discuss their demands and has all the information to back up her claims. Girl is not playing around. Loved the other inmates watching from the outside and cheering her on.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t care for Suzanne anymore. The show is trying way too hard now in giving her these scenes where I’m supposed to feel sorry for her. Less is more, please.

Seeing Figueroa and then Pornstache again got me all wistful about the first season.

The Red/Nicky scenes were very good and I liked that Nicky is taking care of Red which parallels very nicely with Red taking care of Nicky in an earlier season.

Piscatella sneaking into the prison…was he going through the entrance to Frieda’s “game room”? Uh-oh. I had to laugh at the CERT guy not caring enough to remember Piscatella’s name, lol. Here’s hoping Piscatella gets his comeuppance because lord knows he deserves it the most.

Lastly, no wonder teenager Daya looked just like adult Daya. That was Dascha Polanco’s daughter playing teenager Daya! Very cool.

“Oh, did we just have a three-way?”

TV Show: iZombie
Episode Title: Conspiracy Weary
Original Air Date: June 13, 2017
Episode Number: 3×11

Episode Description

Liv and Blaine come to the rescue of one of their own. They consume the brains of a conspiracy theorist and paranoia ensues. Meanwhile, as they continue to search for conspiracy theories that may or may not exist, Liv researches Major’s new friend. Finally, Ravi makes a surprising discovery of his own.

My Review

Dammit, Rachel! I should have known you were up to no good and can’t be trusted because you were too nice. Poor Ravi screwing himself and his friends over by confirming that zombies exist. Guess that’s one story where it’s too late to put the lid back on. What the hell are Fillmore-Graves going to do now? How about Mayor Baracus? How is he going to downplay this? I definitely do not want to be Ravi at this moment. Poor guy just can’t catch a break this season.

So my theory that Baracus was behind Roxanne’s death and Weckler’s death could be true. It boggles the mind that he would turn Weckler’s daughter into a zombie just so he can have leverage on Weckler. That is pretty low and I hope that he gets his due. This will definitely pit Liv’s team against Fillmore-Graves and I can’t wait how this all plays out.

I’m still waiting for Vivian to show up alive and put Chase in his place. I think Chase was the one who killed Wally and his family, he orchestrated that assassination attempt on Baracus to drum up support for him in the polls, he planted the gun used in said assassination attempt and for the Tuttle-Reid murders on Harley’s truck, and he’s probably the one who turned Harley into a zombie. The last one is a reach since Harley probably got scratched by accident during the ensuing fight.

Speaking of that fight, I thought that was probably the best action sequence that has been done on the show. I especially enjoyed Blaine crashing through the glass ceiling and attacking those zombie truthers. That was pretty badass. I know Liv is pretty much indestructible, but I still gasped when she got shot in the back by a freaking shotgun. Thankfully the guy wasn’t aiming for the head.

I enjoyed and was grossed out at the same time at the scene of Don E., Blaine, and Liv snacking on one of the guys’ brains. Also enjoyed the three of them talking about conspiracies throughout the episode as to Tupac being alive and living in Scottsdale as an informant for the feds, to Biggie’s twin shooting Tupac (and Biggie still being alive), to Tom Cruise being a zombie because he doesn’t look like he’s aged a day in his life.

Knew Shawna couldn’t be trusted. I still don’t believe her justification for putting her relationship with Major out there for public consumption. She should have asked for permission first and the fact that she didn’t, just signals that she has a hidden agenda and she probably just wants to profit from being associated with the Chaos Killer in some way. Good riddance.

TV Show: Pretty Little Liars
Episode Title: Choose or Lose
Original Air Date: June 13, 2017
Episode Number: 7×18

Episode Description

The Rosewood PD turn up the heat on the Liars, causing loved ones to try and close ranks. Aria’s recent collaboration with A.D. comes to the attention of a surprising source. A.D. presents the PLLs with a choice designed to drive a wedge between them. Meanwhile, everyone tries to find a bit of happiness before all hell breaks loose. Toby returns to Rosewood, and Aria makes a horrifying discovery.

My Review

So we have two more episodes to wrap up this show and we are still no closer to the truth. Good job. I still think Mona is a red herring and I will be very disappointed if everything is pinned on her and she was AD or A (or whatever else initial they might come up with) all along. I think that will be a pretty weak and lame reveal because I want to believe that Mona genuinely started caring about these girls for quite some time now. I would love it if the big bad turns out to be Melissa for whatever convoluted reason IMK comes up with. I’ll take that over Mona being AD/A any day.

It was great that the other girls found out about Aria and pretty much told her to get lost and accused her of choosing Ezra’s boring ass over her best friends. Where is the loyalty, Aria? However, this makes me wonder if the other girls would also betray the sisterhood in order to protect their loved ones.

I’m glad Tanner is back and is pulling no punches by serving search warrants and upending the girls’ lives. Kudos to Furey for stepping back from the case and actually being a good guy in the end in wanting to see justice served.

I rolled my eyes at the girls having their sexy times with their significant others. I don’t care and it was just a waste of time. I don’t think shippers enjoyed it (I’m assuming?) as much as in earlier seasons because time is short and we all know they’ll all get paired with the people who they dated from the very first season. Seriously, what was the purpose of those sex scenes? The only thing I didn’t roll my eyes at was Caleb and Hanna getting married with Ashley serving as their witness. That was a nice surprise.

Spencer smashing the phone after the timer ran out and Hanna saying “Why didn’t we think of this earlier?” made me laugh because duh.

I wonder if Aria is going to get busted for having Dunhill’s dead body in the trunk of her car. That AD wastes no time. Aria tells him/her she quits and then it’s revenge mode activated. I figured Aria was going to sacrifice herself and turn herself in for Dunhill’s murder, but I don’t think Tanner will let her since she has “proof” that Aria was in New Hampshire the day Dunhill died.

Two more episodes until I’m free of this show forever.
