Episode Description

Cole and Railly finally learn the heart-breaking life story of the man who calls himself The Witness, the reason why he wants to destroy time and all reality is revealed.

My Review

It was nice that we got a bit of Athan’s back story, but the trope of someone losing a loved one and turning evil is pretty tiresome and for this show to pull that out now is a bit of a disappointment so I’m hoping this isn’t the only reason he decides to assume his position as The Witness. He sees that the only way to have him and Eliza be together forever if he kills everyone and makes time obsolete or whatever the hell the Army of the 12 Monkeys wants him to do.

Cassie and Cole meeting their adult son should have been an epic scene, but I felt it was a bit anticlimactic. Let’s see if the epic-ness happens in the finale episode. I did like his meetings with them without their knowledge as to who they’re talking to. Bit of a cheat, but very intriguing. Cassie should not blame herself for being the impetus for Athan to make up his mind to go and become evil. That’s not on her and the sooner she realizes that, the better off her and Cole will be as a team to convince Athan that he doesn’t have to go through with it.

Jennifer outsmarted everyone else, didn’t she? Deacon realized it at the last minute (“like a fox”) and I loved that Jennifer played all of them. When and where is she heading to now, though?

The finale is up next. Can’t wait to see what answers we get and what kind of cliffhanger we’ll be left with.
