Episode Title: Guardians
Original Air Date: May 19, 2017
Episode Number: 3×02
While searching for Jennifer Goines in post-WWI France, Cole and Jones encounter a dangerous group of time- travelers – the Guardians.
Can we vote more than once for Jennifer as favorite character? Because she fucking killed this episode. All of her scenes were golden and I couldn’t help but laugh at all of her antics and of course she broke my heart a little when she told Cole and Jones that she had been waiting for five years and neither of them even bothered to ask how she is and how she felt being used all the time just for her mind. I feel you, girl! Sometimes people just use and abuse you and I’m glad that she called out both Cole and Jones about this.
Jennifer’s one-woman shows are something that I would totally pay to go and watch. She parodied ET, Jaws, and who knows what else? I recognized those two right off the bat. And of course she made a show about the 12 Monkeys and Titan and the whole time travel craziness because what else would one do when they’re stuck in 1922 Paris waiting to be rescued and returned back to the present?
I thought it was very sweet that Jennifer had drawings of Cole, Cassie, Jones up on her dressing room mirror and her saying “I hope you guys are okay” made it doubly sweet, aww. I couldn’t stop laughing at her interactions with Jones and Cole when they first show up to save her. She got offended when the article called her an “obscure actress”; she called Jones “Grandma Time” (hahahaha); “para-box”; she got offended when Jones called “Causality’s Fool”. She’s such a great character and I want to see more of her.
Poor Cassie getting stuck with the cultists within the Titan. Is that guy going to end up helping her and let her rejoin the team? She’s no longer a commodity so the sooner she finds an out, the better her chances of survival.
Of course Magdalena is tasked with protecting the Witness. So the Army’s plan is to bring the box through time so that the Witness can absorb everything that happens in history? Okay, I’ll go along with it.
Ramse and Olivia make for an interesting partnership. Olivia admitting that she was the one who took Sam when he was a little boy to keep him safe was not really a shock (did we learn this last season?), but what was a shock was her and Sam saying that she only did it to protect him. I’m glad Olivia will be joining Team Time now because if she knows how to get to the Witness, this is vital information that the team can definitely use.
Ramse killing Sam was very sad, but I thought the scene lasted way too long than it should have. Great job by Kirk Acevedo, though.
The Guardians having the capability to travel through time and changing the timeline via their portable time machines is a huge problem for the team. I’m sure Jones will figure something out that will prevent them from doing that the next time they happen upon the Guardians.
Very promising start so far, two episodes in to this season.
