Episode Title: Coup De Grace
Original Air Date: May 19, 2017
Episode Number: 4×13
Darnley teams up with John Knox to strip Mary of her throne, which will leave a close friend of Mary’s dead. Elizabeth must banish Gideon from court at the request of her future husband, while Charles takes a bold stance against his brother Henri.
Damn, did not expect Rizzio to go out like that butchered by those traitors while Mary watched helpless to do anything. Mary has got to feel completely isolated now and I wish that she would lift James’ banishment and summon him back to court to watch over her. If he hears about the coup, I hope he goes back to court to help Bothwell get rid of the traitors.
When is Darnley going to die? It’s good that he listened to Mary about Knox hating the monarchy more than having a female monarch and putting those doubts in his head that Knox will renege on his promise to make Darnley king once Mary is no longer on the throne. It’s also good that he helped Mary escape, but it’s too little too late. He betrayed her several times and the punishment for him is death.
Meanwhile in France, Henri continues to subvert Charles’ reign by colluding with Spain and helping his sister Leeza and also by bedding Nicole who is honestly not worth the trouble. What do these Valois brothers see in her, I will never know. She will fall on the next dick if she deemed said dick to be beneficial to herself and her plans. Nicole, giving women a bad name since the 16th century.
Gideon and Narcisse worked well together in putting a stop to Henri’s plan by coming up with a diplomatic solution.
I wonder how long it will last before Elizabeth caves and doesn’t marry the Archduke of Austria and calls Gideon back to court. Good to know that the Archduke is not stupid in regards to Gideon and Elizabeth and that he called for that ultimatum with Elizabeth. It will be for the good of both countries once they get married.
Kudos to Megan Follows for doing a great job directing this episode!
