Episode Title: Power Play
Original Air Date: May 9, 2017
Episode Number: 7×14
Ali’s turn at the game forces her to face a monumental personal decision, made even more difficult when A.D. triggers Ali to remember a forgotten trauma. Spencer has a long overdue conversation with her father about his past sins and recent whereabouts. Emily continues to navigate working at Rosewood High with both Ali and Paige, especially when Ali comes to a troubling realization about her pregnancy, and Paige makes a big decision. Aria continues to question the fate of her relationship with Ezra and bristles under A.D.’s taunts. And, in the search for Mary Drake, Hanna and Spencer run into a familiar face with a shocking secret.
The whole thing with with Ali being impregnated with Emily’s eggs (is Archer still the father?) is the most ridiculous thing ever IF this storyline was on another show, but since this is PLL, this is just another regular Tuesday, am I right? Talk about a twist, though. Just as Paige decided to stay and start up a relationship with Emily again, we get this bomb dropped in our laps. Paige is going to regret staying now, that’s for sure. No way would Emily abandon Alison knowing full well she’s carrying her child. I’m not an Emison shipper because I dislike Alison so I’m just like whatever at this storyline. If they’re endgame, good for them. I’m not a Paily shipper either, but I prefer Emily with her because I think their chemistry is a lot better than the Emison chemistry.
A.D. trying to recruit Aria was a shock. Why now? Is it because Aria protested to not be a part of the board game? A.D. skipping Aria’s turn at the game was just another way to nudge her into joining their team so let’s see if it sticks next week and if Aria refuses to join and she ends up playing after all. Curious, though, as to why A.D. via Sydney reached out to Aria and not to the other girls. Aria, always the sketchy one.
Sydney’s reasoning as to why she’s part of this craziness is kinda weak. She’s a grown adult and no one should be forcing her into doing anything if she doesn’t want to be a part of it. What is A.D. holding over her head?
What does it mean that we found out that Mary killed Jessica and that Lucas was then-Charles’ friend when they were still little? And we got to see Ted again and find out that he’s the father of Charlotte. This just keeps getting more and more ridiculous, I swear.
Lastly, here are a few lines of dialogue that made me laugh out loud:
“You made that old man cry.”
“Do you still have the same email?”
“I’m still Hotmail. Don’t judge, I’m old.”
“A.D. stole Emily’s eggs from the donation bank, fertilized them and then used them to impregnate Ali.”
“God, it still sounds crazy.”
That last one has GOT to be the most ridiculous line of dialogue on this show. All the kudos to Troian for not laughing her ass off and for keeping a straight face while saying this line. I could just see the thought bubble in her head “What in the actual fuck is going on anymore?”
