“I bid thee, Fellowship of the Dorks, goodnight”

Episode Title: Twenty-Sided, Die
Original Air Date: May 30, 2017
Episode Number: 3×09

Episode Description

When a Dungeon Master is killed, Liv and Clive discover he was up to more than just playing in his mother’s basement. Meanwhile, Blaine’s experiment does not go as planned. Lastly, Ravi finds stumbles across some new information that could prove deadly.

My Review

Was it just me or did this episode come off as a bit disjointed towards the end? There were too many things thrown at us that I couldn’t keep up.

1) Dale comes back (yay!) to take over Clive’s case. I wonder if this is all the resolution we’re going to get for this case or if this is just the start of a bigger conspiracy concerning Russian power plants and Dungeons and Dragons. In any case, it was great to see Dale back, but it hurt to watch her being so cold towards Clive. I want these two crazy kids to get back together.

2) Major calling Shawna to meet her. She’s one of the people who sent mail to the Chaos Killer and Major is bored enough to actually call and meet her. What exactly are they planning to do? Just hook up, I suppose? Shawna might be a bit crazy for going to a stranger’s house alone, but that’s not saying much since she wrote to the Chaos Killer and even wrote her number inside.

3) Peyton getting the brush-off from Baracus, her boss. Liv is right. Baracus is hiding something and it’s possible he might even be responsible for killing the dominatrix. Is he telling Peyton to drop the case because if this comes out, it’ll ruin his mayoral chances or is there something else at play here?

4) Baracus gets shot and is on the verge of transforming. This is not good if he goes full-on zombie. There are cameras everywhere and there are too many witnesses. I wonder if Justin is going to pay for this; he was on first watch and it’s possible the shooter got in after his watch, but still. Chase already has beef with him so this is just another strike against him.

5) Don E. gets captured by Harley and his brother and is taken to Ravi. This is not good. Not good at all. Blaine is going to kill Don E. if Harley and his brother don’t do it first. Now the business is compromised and Blaine is going to be hella pissed.

6) Blaine talking to his dad in the well. Of course, him gloating will be for naught if Harley exposes the location of the bar and tells everyone it’s a zombies-only bar.

7) On top of that…Boss is back. WHAT? I thought he got killed last season? Is he a zombie now? If so, who turned him into a zombie? Blaine is in for a world of hurt.

8) Chase meeting Liv. I hope the show doesn’t go the predictable route of having these two hook up. Him complimenting Liv’s dress and looking nice made me raise an eyebrow. Chase seems like a bit of an asshole for now so I don’t want Liv to be associated with him. He’s just doing his job, but still, he’s way too intense.

9) Clive loving D&D. He was an absolute delight in this episode. Him brushing off D&D and then falling in love with it had me laughing. Loved the scene of the five of them playing the game. Loved Peyton’s D&D name (Brangelina Darksbane) and of course, Clive’s “Earl. Dwarf fighter.” Hee. Also, “Where is the lich?!” LOL.

Episode Title: Kimmy Learns About the Weather!
Original Air Date: May 19,2017
Episode Number: 3×07

Episode Description

Titus goes after big pharma when a drug company steals his likeness. Lillian convinces Kimmy that the weatherman can’t be trusted.

My Review

Damn, I can’t believe they ended the episode like that with Titus finally about to tell Kimmy what really happened on that cruise ship. Gotta save the next episode for tomorrow.

Titus finding out that pharmaceutical company (Mordor Pharm, lol) used his likeness and voice for their drug was not cool, but he did sign away all the rights without thinking about it so that’s got to sting. His encounter with the drug dealer was very funny especially after the dealer handed him a pen that said “Crack” on it. Too funny.

Artie and Lillian getting together was only a matter of time. Should be interesting to see how their dynamic will be now that they’re on the same page. This reminds me that I need to go and take the Second Avenue subway one of these days. Loved Artie’s genuine concern for Lillian when he asked her “What is wrong with you as a human being?”

Kimmy’s storyline was a bit of a miss for me.

Episode Title: Kimmy Is a Feminist!
Original Air Date: May 19, 2017
Episode Number: 3×06

Episode Description

Kimmy goes to her first college party with her new friends. Jacqueline calls Titus for backup when Russ’s brother puts the moves on her.

My Review

The whole charade over at Jacqueline’s place was comedy gold. Titus posing as a straight man named Cork Rockingham and tricking Duke into doing favors for him was hilarious. Apparently straight guys can’t pass up the opportunity to one-up another guy just to prove their manhood. Thing is, Duke was blinded by this fact and was stupid enough to really realize what was going on. I’m glad Jacqueline got the upper hand in the end because I really want her and Russ to work out. Lillian as Isabella was also hilarious.

Kimmy realizing that she’s hanging out with kids was a great moment. Seriously, kids these days. Too bad Perry is studying to become a reverend because he and Kimmy are adorable together.

Xan/Zoon being the unpopular girl while Kimmy is the popular girl…who would have thunk it? I hope she finds people she vibes with because I don’t like seeing this version of Xan (although it is very funny).

Titus and Jacqueline making out…I don’t even have the words. “Is that how gay people kiss?” “Is that how straight people kiss?” 😂

Episode Title: Kimmy Steps on a Crack!
Original Air Date: May 19, 2017
Episode Number: 3×05

Episode Description

The FBI enlists Kimmy’s help when former mole woman Gretchen tries to start a cult of her own. Titus is stricken with a strange disease.

My Review

That Orange Is The New Black tie-in was kinda genius and I loved seeing Black Cindy! Was expecting to see other characters show up, but still, that was pretty awesome. Gretchen is going to love prison because she can start her own cult in there.

Poor Titus getting sick and coming down with scurvy. Him eating that orange and complaining that it’s wet inside had me cackling. This show is so ridiculous.

I got what the show was aiming for with the treatment of women and how they’re treated differently than men, but the execution felt kinda flat. I appreciate them doing this, though.

Jacqueline cooking and having her homoerotic moment with Meemaw was awesome. “‘Beat three eggs.’ At what?” LOL. I hope Jacqueline slaps Duke and doesn’t start a relationship with him. She needs to stay loyal to Russ because I really like them together.

The Mara shoutout was very funny especially the Mara Mara sister. I wonder what Kate and Rooney think.

Lastly, what the fuck happened at that cruise? Titus has made offhand/subtle references to it and about eating the people on it…disturbing, but intriguing. Can’t wait to find out what that’s all about.

Episode Title: Kimmy Goes to College!
Original Air Date: May 19, 2017
Episode Number: 3×04

Episode Description

Kimmy makes a splash at Columbia University while doing odd jobs to save up for college. Titus sings backup for a controversial musician.

My Review

Titus having a conflict of interest with the Boobs song has got to be the funniest thing that happened on this show this season (but I have nine more episodes to watch so maybe this will change). We were all led to believe that the song would be so offensive and that’s why Titus wasn’t sure if he should do it and then it turns out he had to sing about boobs and loving them. I laughed so hard when it transitioned to that cheesy-ass-hell video.

Lillian filibustering was classic Lillian and reminded me of that awesome The West Wing episode The Stackhouse Filibuster. I have a feeling she will have a thing with Artie and I’m excited about that because he seemed like a genuinely nice guy and a definite step up from Robert Durst. Let’s see how he wins over Lillian.

Kimmy’s TaskRabbit idea is a great idea, but sounds dangerous and sketchy as hell. There are strange people out there who will pay anything to make someone do crazy things. But it led to Kimmy getting a full scholarship into Columbia so yay! And we get Xan back? Double yay! Her scenes with Kimmy have always been golden.

It was great seeing Jonah from 30 Rock on here playing the recording artist. Almost didn’t recognize him without his glasses.

Other random thoughts:

“Fluoride makes children gay” (lyrics to one of the songs)

“Oh, thank angry Old Testament God, the one who’s always threatening to kill children to make a point!”

Kimmy thinking caffeine-free means you don’t pay extra for caffeine

“I want to fight you.”
“No, you don’t. I would destroy you.”

“I’m calling Dean Cain telling him to clean up this mess. And then we’re going to see Dean Koontz who is the dean.” (This one had me laughing so hard especially the Dean Cain part. Kicker is that he’s not even the dean.)

“Who put underwear on me?”

“Don’t answer that door until I lose 15 pounds”

Episode Title: Kimmy Can’t Help You!
Original Air Date: May 19, 2017
Episode Number: 3×03

Episode Description

A surprise visitor delivers divorce papers to Kimmy. Jacqueline comes up with a plan to get Russ’s dad to rename the Redskins.

My Review

Titus being a good person and wanting to help Wendy in the end was really nice and I’m glad that Kimmy did end up helping Wendy, too. She was deluded as hell and had very low self-esteem so it must be painful for them both to see her being so enamored with the horror that is Rev. Richard. Laura Dern played Wendy’s desperation and delusions of marital bliss perfectly.

Titus was being a good friend to Kimmy at first in advising her not to get involved with Richard’s mess, but after seeing how badly Wendy needed to be saved from Richard, he changed his mind and did the right thing. Poor Kimmy having to figure out another way to finance her college education.

Jacqueline marrying into Russ’ family…I hope Russ recovers and that he and Jacqueline will have a plan to have the family change the team name to something less racist. I think that it’s sweet that Jacqueline really and truly loves Russ and is not just with him for his money.

Best sight gag was a toss-up between Titus drinking pasta sauce and the meth head’s printer setup.

Episode Title: Blurb
Original Air Date: May 28, 2017
Episode Number: 6×07

Episode Description

Selina works on her book as her staff prepare for the ceremony to unveil her portrait. Meanwhile, Jonah tries to weasel his way onto the guest list; and Dan struggles to solve his on-screen chemistry problem.

My Review

Okay, this season is shaping up to be one of the show’s best. This episode had me practically laughing my ass off from the first minute to the last minute.

Jonah actually has a bit of power now and for him to shut down the government just to spite Selina for not inviting him to the unveiling was a shock. It was hilarious seeing how fast he and his group’s votes affected the unveiling and how it all went to hell and not the portrait of class that that event called for and which Gary nicely described to Selina the night before.

Jonah converting to Judaism is going to be so cringe-worthy and hilarious. Let’s see how many people he offends throughout this season. So much secondhand embarrassment for him. His speech in the end was so great. I couldn’t possibly quote the whole thing, but his NPR crack about it being boring and shutting down state park so that kids’ parents are forced to take them to cooler places for vacation…I was laughing so hard.

Selina and Tom were great and I continue to be fascinated by their attraction and hatred for each other. Is Hugh Laurie going to be in more episodes or was this his only appearance? I could buy these two eventually ending up together despite Tom being newly married and having a baby with his trophy wife.

It was pretty low of Tom to use his tryst with Selina to drum up interest and sales for his book, though. I hope Selina gets back at him in some way because it’s about time Selina gets a win for a change. I’m kind of tired seeing her and her incompetent team always ending up on the losing side.

That portrait was pretty good. I don’t see the neck thing Selina was talking about. Too bad about the chair that’s now associated with Andrew and his philandering ways.

The fact that Dan and his new co-host (who he’s actually fucking) doesn’t have any chemistry according to viewers is hilarious. Their little flirty thing at the end was cringe-worthy and I had the same reaction as the producer. I laughed when someone in the audience yelled “I hate you” (or was it “you suck”?) during the live taping. I’m sure that was addressed to Dan.

Can we get a bit more backstory on Amy wanting to work for Furlong? We learned that she sent her resume to him and that after Furlong left, she tells Mike that she actually does want to work for him. Is she out of her mind or just a glutton for punishment?

Other random thoughts and lines that made me laugh:

– “Is there like a Jew place for dogs?”

– This whole exchange between Selina, Marjorie, and Catherine:

“Catherine, you are not going to be coy or twee about the sex of my grandchild. This is a human being you’re making, not some Brooklyn-based artisanal chocolate bar.”
“Birth gender isn’t even that relevant. She/he will decide her/his ideal gender when she/he is/are ready.”
“Okay, is that how we’re talking now, Marjorie, like some sort of bi-curious Porky Pig?”

I fucking died. Bi-curious Porky Pig, omg.

– “I can’t. Can you just go away, Catherine?”

– “Why are women always checking in on each other when I am talking to them?”

– “Why do you keep saying that Tom James and I made love? Are you a 15-year old girl?”

– Laughed so hard at Gary’s reaction when Tom (on TV) mentioned that Selina is a year younger than him.

– Furlong calling Mike “Fuckleberry Finn”

– “Is that her name or is that the pill you take to fuck her?”

– I just realized in this episode that Andrea Savage plays Montez because I recognize her voice. I loved her on iZombie playing Vivian. I hope to see more of her Montez on this show. I may have a slight crush on her, lol.
