When Lydia disappears after a heated argument with her daughter about religion, the smooth running of the household falls apart in her absence.
This show, man. Making religion as the focus and the different points of view of the different characters. Really well done. I admire the show for addressing these different views and making all of them valid and believable. Things got heated with Lydia and Penelope, but I’m so happy that they both came to an understanding in the end and they compromised that they would go to church on Easter and Christmas and one other Sunday so that they won’t be “those people.” I laughed at this because there are always those people that you only see during Easter and Christmas and not on regular Sundays in our church.
Loved the introduction of Carmen and how she’s now obsessed with Penelope, lmao. I couldn’t stop laughing when Penelope mentioned “Death” when she was listing off people’s inspirations (Elena was Sonia Sotomayor). Too funny. “Your mom’s kind of mean. I’m obsessed with her.”
I couldn’t stop laughing at Lydia and Penelope’s argument about church.
“Your mother will go hiking with Satan.”
“Yeah, and then we’ll go to Applebee’s ’cause Satan loves the Fiesta Lime Chicken.”
Just the way Justina delivered that last line had me in stitches.
Schneider is okay. I don’t mind him and it’s amusing how he’s integrated himself into the Alvarez home and how he feels like part of the family now.
