“Compared to England, America’s a pimply teenager”

Episode Title: Crowned Clown, Downtown Brown
Episode Number: 5×12
Original Air Date: January 15, 2017

Episode Description:
When Holmes and Watson investigate a clown’s murder upstate, they discover a connection between his death and the creation of a new weaponized virus. Also, Watson helps Bell when he’s targeted by his new love interest Chantal’s ex-husband in attempt to sabotage her career at the district attorney’s office.

My review

Marcus telling off Chantal’s ex-husband was made of awesome. He might be a lot smaller than Roy Booker, but the guy can pull a punch and hit where it matters. Him being perceptive enough to determine that this was the defense attorney messing with the big case Chantal has been working on was pretty impressive. I do love that he is a smart detective on his own.

I really loved the opening scene with Joan teasing Marcus about Chantal. Their friendship is the best thing about the show after Joan and Sherlock’s friendship.

The case of the week definitely did not go where I thought it was going to go. I learned a few things about New York’s water system, though. I really thought it was the DHS guy who was the culprit only for it to be the EPA employee.

Shallowly-speaking, I really loved Joan’s all-black ensemble: black trousers, black vest, black blouse, and a black tie. She looked glamorous.

Quote of the episode: “Compared to England, America’s a pimply teenager.” Joan’s reaction upon hearing this was priceless.
